Andy MurrayAndy Murray beats Novak Djokovic to break Britain's 77-years-old Wimbledon jinx

LONDON: Face buried in the palm of his hands, he sank to his knees as the warm evening sun bathed Centre Court, its shimmering rays casting a golden glow on 2013 Wimbledon champion Andy Murray.

The 26-year-old World No.2 ended a near eight-decade wait for Britain as he blew away Novak Djokovic's challenge much like the celebrated title of that 1936 classic, 'Gone with the wind'. Incidentally, it was in the summer of '36 that the host nation's Fred Perry won the last of his three Wimbledon crowns. Murray, throwing in a mix of attacking and resilient tennis, collected £1,600,000 for his 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 win that ended a 77-year wait.
